Ingredients

  • 6 cups Water Divided: 4 for tea 2 for cherry infusion
  • 4 Black tea bags Regular or decaf
  • 2 cups Fresh cherries Pitted and halved
  • 0.25–0.5 cup Sugar or honey Adjust to taste
  • 2 tablespoon Lemon juice Freshly squeezed
  • Ice cubes For serving
  • Fresh cherries optional For garnish
  • Lemon slices optional For garnish

Equipment

  • 1 Medium saucepan For brewing tea and simmering cherries
  • 1 Fine mesh strainer To filter the cherry solids
  • 1 Pitcher Glass preferred for visual appeal
  • 1 Cherry pitter Optional but highly helpful
  • 1 Cutting board & knife For halving cherries

Method

  1. Grab your cutting board and pit and halve your fresh cherries to get them ready for the sweet infusion.
  2. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in your saucepan, then remove it from the heat and drop in the black tea bags. Let them steep to build a rich flavor base.
  3. In another small saucepan, combine your prepared cherries with the remaining 2 cups of water and your choice of sweetener. Simmer gently until the cherries soften and release all their vibrant juices.
  4. Pour the cherry mixture through a fine-mesh strainer straight into your tea base, pressing lightly on the solids to catch every bit of flavor. Stir in the fresh lemon juice.
  5. Transfer your beautiful blend into a glass pitcher and chill it in the fridge for a couple of hours. Serve cold over plenty of ice, garnished with extra cherries and lemon slices.
